In a notice from the Police department in Reykjavík issued last night, drivers were urged to be cautious when driving on the city roads. Roads were very slippery in all parts of the city. No accidents on people were reported but the traffic moved slowly and drivers' view was limited due to the blizzard.

Other areas were also affected. In South Iceland, Reykjanesbraut highway, from Reykjavík to Keflavík, was also hazardous but no reports of accidents had been received at the time of reporting.

Western and northwestern parts of Iceland were also affected.

Right before midnight last night, a driver called in a blizzard on Brattabrekka road in West Iceland. Snow was piling up and the road conditions deteriorating rapidly. A blizzard in Holtavörðuheiði, a highway road from Borgarfjörður to Hrútafjörður in the northwestern part of the country, had already begun to deteriorate at 10 pm last night, according to Rúv.is.

Blizzards have been common in the last few months, with heavy snow fall in all regions of the country and poor road conditions.
