A black Labrador was found dead, tied to car tires in the harbor of Þingeyri, the West Fjords, in December. An autopsy has now revealed that the dog was drowned.
From the West Fjords. Photo by Geir Ólafsson. “The animal was alive when it was put in the ocean,” Önundur Jónsson at the West Fjords police department, told Fréttablaðið. Önundur said that a man has admitted to the killing and that he was unable to fully explain what his motives were. The man is facing charges; it is illegal to put down animals unless it is considered absolutely necessary or when performed by a veterinarian. iceland
