“There was such a flood of good books and therefore it is particularly pleasing for me to have won the award. I was very satisfied with this book and allowed myself to hope for the first time that I would be presented with the award,” Guðrún Eva told Fréttablaðið.
Páll was awarded in the non-fiction category for his book about Icelandic independence hero Jón Sigurðsson, Jón forseti allur? Táknmynd þjóðhetju frá andláti til samtíðar. “The award came as a pleasant surprise,” Páll commented. He has studied Jón’s heritage for the past years. iceland
