The police in the town of Ísafjörður in the West Fjords have closed all roads to and from it.

Last night, Road 60, the connection to Reykjavík, was closed down because of several small snow avalanches that fell on the road, close to the town of Súðavík, fifteen kilometers south of Ísafjörður.

After three days of heavy snowing, and a storm expected this afternoon, the roads are not safe.

People in the West Fjords have been asked not to travel, and all children were send home at noon, before the storm, according to Rúv.is.

Two other smaller towns, Bíldudalur and Tálknafjörður, at the southern part of the West Fjords, are also completely isolated, with neither road nor flight connection.
