“I don’t have the patience to sit under such codependence and nonsense which you can see after the first read is absolute crap,” MP for the Progressive Party Vigdís Hauksdóttir told dv.is of the bill for a new constitution for Iceland, created by the Constitutional Council and presented to the Icelandic parliament, Alþingi, on July 29, 2011.

Vigdís is part of a parliamentarian committee appointed with the task of reviewing the bill before it goes to a national referendum, which some had hoped could take place this coming spring.

One of the promises her party gave during the last election was to write a new constitution.

Vigdís has been against the Constitutional Council from the beginning. After the national election for members to the council she declared that people with names starting with letters late in the alphabet did not stand a chance of being elected.

However, the winners of the election were Þorvaldur Gylfason, Salvör Nordal and Ómar Ragnarsson. Þ (pronounced "th" as in “thunder”) is the third last letter of the Icelandic alphabet).
