The city of Reykjavík has started plans to build the 19th swimming pool in the capital area, in Fossvogur valley. The cost will be jointly shared by Kópavogur and Reykjavík.
Last Saturday, soccer player and recently elected Iceland's sportsperson of the year 2011, Heiðar Helguson scored his eighth goal in the English Premier League, when his team QPR defeated Wigan, 3-1. Heiðar has scored one third of QPR goals this season.
According to new figures by Statistic Iceland, 80,4 percent of Icelanders are currently employed.
Two places in Iceland are now without road connection, Árneshreppur in the West Fjords, and Mjóifjörður fjord in the East Fjords.
The other party in the government coalition, the Left-Greens, is on the verge of breaking up. The two fractions, lead by ministers Steingrímur J Sigfússon and Ögmundur Jónasson, are not on talking terms.
Iceland’s next match in the European Handball Championship in Serbia is tomorrow. It is against the current group leaders Spain. The following day, Iceland will compete against France, the current Olympic- and World Champions.
