Heiðar Helguson has been one of English Premier League Club Queens Park Rangers’ most outstanding players this season. Netting seven goals in 12 Premier League appearances makes him the seventh highest goal scorer in the league.
Heiðar Helguson’s future at the club had looked in doubt in the summer, but impressive performances have seen him rewarded with a new deal until 2013.
"I fought tooth and nail to keep Heidar here over the summer because I knew he could be a treat for us in the Premier League," QPR manager Neil Warnock said. "He has proved time and again what a good player he is.”
"He has more than earned this new deal. No one deserves it more. He is a credit to his profession and it couldn't happen to a nicer lad," he added.
"We know he is not going to play every game at his age, which is why we need to add to our options in that department.” "It's something we're working on and we're quite hopeful we'll be successful in our pursuit," Warnock continued.
Heiðar Helguson was born in 1977, and raised in the village of Dalvík, North Iceland.
Before joining QPR, he played with Þróttur in Reykjavík, Lilleström in Norway, and Watford and Fulham in the English Premier League.
His next game is an away game on New Year’s Eve against Arsenal in North London.
