Today is the Second Day of Christmas. After eating to excess on December 24 and 25, many families have leftovers for lunch, enjoy their gifts and relax on December 26.

In the evening, people often invite friends or relatives over for dinner, and might cook something a bit more experimental than what is the norm during the previous two days.

As meat is a big part of the Icelandic Christmas diet, fish is popular as a lighter alternative on December 26, which is not as festive as Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

If December 27 falls upon a weekday, adults have to go to work. Children, however, have vacation from school.
