This will be commemorated with a ceremony at Höfdi in Reykjavík on Friday morning where President of Iceland Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, Mayor of Reykjavík Jón Gnarr and those who were present when a political alliance between Iceland and the Baltic states was signed on August 26, 1991, will be in attendance, ruv.is reports.

Among other locations which Grybauskaité will visit is the Coordination Center in Skógarhlíd in Reykjavík where she will learn about the operations of the Icelandic Civil Protection Department and its reactions to recent volcanic eruptions.

She will also visit Althingi, the Icelandic parliament, and attend panel discussions at the capital’s Culture House. The program concludes with a dinner at the invitation of Prime Minister Jóhanna Sigurdardóttir at Thingvellir national park.
