death-announcements A number of people convened at Geirsgata in Reykjavík at midnight last night to remember a young man who died in the ICU of the Landspítali national hospital from head trauma yesterday after a car accident last week. He would have turned 18 today.

The man was the passenger in a car which ran into the building at the intersection of Geirsgata and Tryggvagata in the city center on Friday night. He never regained consciousness, visir.is reports.

Two others suffered minor injuries in the accident.

It is being investigated by the police as it is believed that the car was driven at a considerably higher speed than the 50 kilometers per hour which is allowed in this area, as stated on visir.is.
