A French tourist suffered first and second degree burns to his legs and abdomen when he fell into a hot spring in Reykjadalur valley near Hveragerdi in south Iceland yesterday afternoon.
From Krýsuvík. Wherever the landscape is steaming, there are scorching hot springs. Photo by Eygló Svala Arnarsdóttir. The man was taking photographs in the area when he slid and fell into the hot spring. The police in Selfoss told Morgunbladid that he was traveling with his wife when the accident occurred and she called for assistance. He was brought to the Hveragerdi healthcare center and from there to the emergency room of the Landspítali National Hospital in Reykjavík. Tourists who are planning to spend time outside in the Icelandic nature are asked to be careful; read safetravel.is for further information.
