The project dottirDOTTIR, aimed at promoting West-Nordic fashion design and handicraft from Iceland and Greenland at the Berlin Fashion Week, was recently launched by Berlin-based fashion enthusiast Hulda Rós Gudnadóttir.
Design by Eygló.
Gudnadóttir has long been fascinated by handicraft from remote areas like Greenland and the West Fjords and thought it optimal to mix it in with progressive Icelandic fashion design as created by Reykjavík designers and labels Mundi, Shadow Creatures, Royal Extreme, DísDís, Eygló and Hlín Reykdal.
The last two designers are currently designing an object that will only be available in limited supply for those interested in supporting the project through crowd funding, described as a "grassroot" initiative and “democratic version of funding creative projects,” in a press release.
The design object will later become a collector’s item, a sort of memorial to what individuals can achieve.
