The third part of an exhibition of series of photographs by Leifur Thorsteinsson, running until August 28, opened in the Reykjavík Museum of Photography last month. They include pictures of flowers taken on a 4x5 inch sheet film of the make Kodacolor HD.

The film has a higher color saturation than regular film. These photographs were printed on negative colored paper of the brand ILFORD Royal which is no longer available but used to be produced by Ciba in Switzerland, a press release describes.

The artist, who is a pioneer of Icelandic commercial and industrial photography, describes the method of photography thus: “The paper is first coated with a mirroring layer which reflects light, which enables a deeper color saturation and creates a special effect.”

The exhibition also includes photos taken in the Reykjavík suburb Grafarvogur and of buildings that were located on the road to Álftanes, a neighboring town of the capital, which no longer exists and are therefore a historical source of the area.
