The German band Die Ukraniens will perform in two concerts in Iceland this weekend. The former will take place at the Reykjavík venue Faktorý tonight at 10 pm, where Orphic Oxtra and Caterpillarmen will also perform.
The second performance will be at the local concert venue Vertinn at Hvammstangi in northwest Iceland tomorrow evening at 10 pm.
Die Ukrainiens originate in Dresden and their music has been described as an interesting mix of Russian disco and Balkan music.
The band’s songs are either known folk or pop songs from Russia, Ukraine and other eastern European countries or original compositions.
According to a press release, Die Ukrainiens’s concerts are considered to be powerful and well suited for dancing—in many aspects reminiscent of eastern European wedding parties and/or funerals.
