Considerable delays have been announced for flights arriving with the Icelandic airlines today. However, departures that are scheduled from Keflavík International Airport this afternoon will probably be on time, although some departures were delayed this morning.

Icelandair’s plane from Bergen, Norway, which was scheduled to land shortly after 3 pm is now scheduled to land shortly before 10 pm, ruv.is reports.

Also, the arrival of a plane from Stockholm is delayed by at least three hours and a flight from Paris is expected to land almost five hours later than originally scheduled. Follow flight updates on kefairport.is.

The ash cloud from Grímsvötn disrupted flights in northern Europe this morning, including the British Isles.

Although the ash cloud is now approaching Germany, it is not expected to cause as much disturbances to air traffic as the eruption in Eyjafjallajökull last year.

The Ring Road between Vík and Freysnes (Skaftafell) in south Iceland will remain closed due to poor visibility caused by an ash storm. The situation will be reassessed tomorrow morning.
