Iceland Review’s photographer Páll Stefánsson is now boarding a small plane on the way to Grímsvötn. Even though flights of passenger airlines have been banned, small aircraft are allowed to fly. The weather in Reykjavík and vicinity is excellent, sunny and still.
![]() Páll Stefánsson boarding the plane. Photo: Jóhannes Benediktsson Ómar Ragnarsson, media personality and entertainer, has followed eruptions in Iceland for decades. He has flown to the eruption two times and said that the eruption was very big. The cloud goes up in a mushroom and he said that he approached the eruption with greater respect than many previous eruptions. He said lightings were common, even above the airplane. Ragnarsson flies a small private airplane. We expect photos from Páll Stefánsson after 16.00. Stefánsson has taken many photos of eruptions in Iceland and his small book Eruptions 2010 has been a great hit. We are offering that book as a gift for new subscriptions to Iceland Review.
