The condition of the woman who was assaulted by her husband on Sunday is still serious. She is being cared for at the ICU of the Landspítali national hospital in Reykjavík and is being kept unconscious on a ventilator.

She was resuscitated at the scene and taken to the emergency room, Morgunbladid reports. Her husband, who is in his sixties, was arrested the same day. He has been sentenced to custody until May 30 at the police’s demand on the basis of the investigation’s interests.
