Salvör Nordal, director of the University of Iceland Ethics Institute and the second-most popular candidate among voters, was elected chairperson of Constitutional Council at its second formal meeting yesterday. Farmer Ari Teitsson was elected the council’s vice-chair.

The council’s inaugural meeting took place on Wednesday when councilpersons accepted a 700-page report on the conclusions of the 2010 National Gathering, among other material, from the Constitutional Committee.

Ómar Ragnarsson, one of the council’s 25 members, spoke on its behalf at its first meeting, promising that “fresh winds will blow” during the council’s meeting and that each meeting would be concluded with a song.

The council will now take three to four months to review the Constitution of Iceland under Nordal’s leadership, taking the report and the conclusions of the National Gathering into consideration, and prepare a bill on changes to constitution, which will be submitted to parliament.

Ms. Nordal, Congratulations on midwifing modern democracy!
Yet, after 31 years, no Green Party of any nation is a governing majority, leading the way to a sane, healthy future. That can be remedied.
If you agree, you will love the new green power tools, legal & ethical armor, weapons, and ammunition provided in the SDR, Green Policy Directives for exorcising Demonocracy.
I think that you will find the sections on ethics & economic alternatives especially compelling, and the new Green rating form a very powerful tool for implementing sustainable systemic change.
The SDR gives us what we need to dethrone pandemic corruption & exorcise the world game:
1. ethically
2. legally
3. politically
4. socially
5. culturally
6. personally
7. economically
8. strategically
...more effective action planning & rehabbing humanity.
