Tomorrow, March 13, is a National Costume Day at the National Museum of Iceland in Reykjavík. People of all nationalities are welcome and encouraged to wear their countries’ national costume, inform others and learn more about the Icelandic costumes.
Those who will be wearing a headdress, as is the case with the Icelandic costumes, can obtain assistance from museum staff to put it in place, a press release states. The event begins at 2 pm and everyone wearing a national costume gets free admission. Today the exhibition Kvon by María Th. Ólafsdóttir opens at the museum’s Torg (“Square”) exhibition space, displaying dresses inspired by the Icelandic national costumes.
